I agree with Cynthia. And as far as you saying it was a mistake to cling to your daughter and her likewise, I disagree. If you were having a rough time, and she knew it, there is nothing more precious than a childs hands holding you. And also on the boyfriend, neither you or your daughter were the cause of his 17yr relationship going kapoot....If he was married 17 yrs, he is old enoughto know and should also respect that you and your daughter were together before he even came into play. I'm exremely thankful that my husband accepted my son. In fact, he told my son that he loved him before he told me he loved me!! I don't really know what to do in your situation, but as for me, I would side with my child(and I have 5) over any new GROWN man....and I use that word loosely!
